It's been a week since I've posted anything (except a flying pig icon) and I'm going to scream if I'm not allowed some uninterrupted time to just write. I've managed to keep up with my [community profile] mcshep_match duties - at least I think I have - and some research for the four stories I'm currently juggling for challenges, but that's it.

The reason? My foray into the world last week was fun, but I paid for it with an overall increase in pain and a bout of diverticulitis. Yay, I'll be repeating that experience soon. Not.

To make matters even more fun, the VHS converter arrived and Gary pushed me to set it up on the new PC (borrowing my daughter's monitor since the TV had not yet arrived.) Of course, that also entailed rearranging the living room in anticipation of the TV - Gary moved and I supervised for the most part.

Have I mentioned before how much I HATE home 'improvement' projects with Gary? It's even worse when I can't speak loud enough that he understands what I'm trying to convey and I'm forced to rely on increasingly profane gestures. The arrival of the TV and its wall mount and the attendant hours of installation and configuration was the genesis of a second bout of gastrointestinal distress. Everything had to be tested, of course, and tinkered with until Gary was satisfied.

Key words: Until Gary was satisfied.

Right.

I married a man whose ultimate praise of something not related to skiing or motorcycles is 'It's okay' and is more likely to find everything he thinks is wrong and rarely acknowledges what works just fine. It's never good enough, damn it.

By last night, I had the TV set up as the PC's monitor and we watched the X-Files via Netflix and I thought it was great. We've been slowly going through the VHS tapes and converting them. Cool.

Yesterday, Gary decides we need a table for the components under the wall mount. Okay, that's half a day wasted looking online, because Gary has to look at everything, where I'll check out a few things, find something I like and I'm done. My family used to laugh at me because I was a speed shopper - in and out of a mall store in less than ten minutes - scan and leave. Hasn't changed, only looking online with Gary means every time I look away to pick up a story thread, I'm interrupted with, "How about this one?"

Arrrrrrggggghhhhh.

Now, this morning disappeared because he dragged out the old surround sound system we ran on a long-defunct PC. After too many attempts at hooking it into the new PC, which doesn't have the required sound card for the cables to plug into, something I had already explained to him but he wouldn't believe, he's packed up that system for disposal and is flouncing around in a pissy mood.

I love the man with all my heart, but he needs to get out of this house.

He's installing his GPS software right now on the new PC now. Please, oh ye gods of miscellaneous software, let that work, because I can't take anymore disgusted sighs.

He teaches one of his motorcycle safety courses tonight, so I'm hoping I'll get a chance to write something less whiny.

Damn it. He can't make the installation work and needs my help.

*disgusted sigh of my own*
