Selma Blair sparks disability discussions
Feb. 27th, 2019 10:31 amThe disability communities on Twitter have been active since they were presented with the wonderful Selma Blair images at the Oscars and in Vanity Fair(see below).

My daughter, who has found the communities very supportive as she deals with her sleep and movement disorders, worked up a hashtag #GloriousFeeling and is hoping to engage a number of posts with people responding to the above image with their own version of disabled glam with assistive devices. I was inspired. Gary took the pictures and the dogs behaved beautifully for promised treats.

I had the honor of being the first post.

In other news, PT is progressing well on the shoulder, although a session knocks me back for two days because my body is convinced I was attacked so my CFS and fibro kick into a higher gear. yay

Date: 2019-02-27 09:26 pm (UTC)Humm... interesting point about PT! I’ve been going through some for my arm (radial nerve) and now a lot of other things make sense about non-related stuff. Sorry that it’s acting up so bad for your CFS and fibro. :(

Date: 2019-02-28 07:17 pm (UTC)I should get someone to actually take a pic when I'm dressed nicer for one of our community things here. I have lots of low heeled boots and like to coordinate them with my clothes and my cane.
Right now feel like a we noodle. Some sort of bug this week has me running a fever up and down the guage, and really tired. Since I'm in a senior building, and more than a few people here are either immuno-comprimised for one reason or another or just had surgery, I've been hiding out im my own apt. I even missed the wii bowling we do on Mondays. I am very disapointed. I never played before 3 weeks ago, and found out I'm surprisingly good at it. I am the current champ. This is a completely new status for me!
The boys have been very sweet. Migrating back and forth from daybed to recliner to bed and back, and requesting very few walks.
Soon, I want to start working harder with little Rocket on some obediance. He works for treats. I'm at a lost for any way to tell him no that will stick, though. He isn't even fazed if I try yelling at him. It's a mixed bag. He is so happy and easy-going that he is a delight. But I can't seem to discourage any poor behaviors, either. (chewing, loud yapping) I don't mind barking ususally, as it's not often, but he is a bit hysterical when he sees we are going out. Not so good when Scooter's old bladder wakes him up at 12-3am and I need to take them out. I'm worried about neighbors complaining. I don't want to discourage his happy and friendly personality, just have him be calm when required, and not chew things I need, or could hurt him. :)
