Fandom Gives
Jun. 2nd, 2007 09:47 pmI'm behind this 100 percent.

I left a comment on
news saying I would not be purchasing two permanent accounts because I felt so strongly about what had been done. That $300.00 will now be going to the charities endorsed at
fandom_gives.
I never considered the cost of the permanent account as saving me money, I just believe in giving back when something has given me joy. Children are a joy. I'm giving back.
ETA: I've donated $100 each to RAINN, ECU,PCA.

Date: 2007-06-03 04:02 am (UTC)I'm really uncertain that everything is better now. It seems too easy. I've seen too much online drama to believe in 'easy' solutions.

I'll maintain my journals here and on GJ because that is where fandom chooses to be, for now. I'm also working on alternatives - in between writing. We'll see where it goes. In the meantime, some very deserving charities got the money that was going to LJ and Gary agreed it was an excellent idea. *hug*

Date: 2007-06-04 12:28 am (UTC)I believe that advertisers and stock offerings will pay for LJ and all the other accounts that aren't fandom-related. That's why an unregulated fandom's days are possibly numbered on LJ.
My opinion.
My two paid accounts expire next year. I'll see what's happening then.
