Interview meme
Jun. 13th, 2007 07:52 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions. (They probably won't be the same ones you see above!)
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
From
hils:
1. Which fic are you most proud of?
I really love every fic I've written, so that's a tough one. I'll go with 'Without You' because it was my first original AU and 'Destiny's Savage Heart' because it won first place for
harlequin_sv.
2. Are there any bunnies you're desperate to write but haven't started yet?
Not going to ask easy ones, are you? I guess I have the desperate ones started and on the WIP list, but 'The Kent Identity' and one called 'Not Over Yet' would be the two that keep bugging me to start them.
3. What's your favourite dance?
Argentine Tango. My online name in several forums is TangoLady.
4. If you and Gary could go anywhere in the world on holiday where would you go?
We adore Paris and London, but would go for Australia because we haven't been there yet.
5. Do you listen to music when you write or do you need silence?
The more silence the better. Music demands my attention, it can never just be in the background.
From
morganichelle:
1. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?
Usually some sort of granola, but I'm a toast and bagel person for the most part
2. Of all the dances, which one is your absolute favorite?
Argentine Tango. My online name in several forums is TangoLady.
3. When you finish a big WIP, are you more relieved it's done, or sad that it's over?
Neither. I usually feel satisfied, a sense of accomplishment.
4. If you could meet any author, any time or place, who would it be and what would you want to know?
My favorite feel better author is Dick Francis, so I guess I'd like to meet him and talk about his research for his novels. It's obvious he does his homework.
5. Do you like amusement parks, and if so, what's your favorite ride?
Not really, I get dizzy. If I ride, I like the simulators.
From
ladydreamer:
1. Are there any physical things that you NEED to be going on around you for you to get into the Zone and write?
Pretty much quiet, music or tv distracts too much. Feet up and back supported. Something to drink and a box of tissues (darn allergies), and
rosy5000's Superman shield on the lamp over my shoulder. :-D
2. Cats or dogs or rats? Dogs
3. Cake or pie? Cherry pie
4. What are your personal rules for writing original characters in fanfiction? Interesting question. I'm not sure I have any, probably because I deliberately use SV/DC/Marvel characters for all speaking parts. Only exceptions I can think of are in the SV Harlequins and my concern there was to make sure they advanced the story and weren't there to just fill a space. Currently, 'In His Image' has a number because of Kal-El's journey and it's the same, they need to advance the story and in that story they're guides along his journey.
5. What are your thoughts on yaoi?
I enjoy the artwork for the most part, get a little uncomfortable if too much pain involved in the very young pairings. Prefer what I believe is doujinshi, have enjoyed Gundam Wing and I cannot remember the name but one is a demon. I knew I shouldn't have cleaned up everything but my CLex and X-men collection.
From
elgraves:
1. When did you start dancing?
November 1995, 38 years old. Always wanted to learn and Gary indulged me.
2. What are your other fandoms beside Smallville or is it your only one?
SV is the only one I've ever participated in or was serious about collecting fanfic.
3. What made you start writing?
Something else I always wanted to do. I'm a tech/training writer for software applications as part of my job and writing stories is definitely more appealing. I guess I also thought that the stories I wanted to write would be different enough that people might want to read them.
4. How long did it take you to say yah, I can really do this?
The feedback I received on my first story was incredible. It wasn't as if anyone knew me because I was new to LJ and commenting. By my second story, 'My Alibi', I was starting to feel confident that I would be pleased by my stories even if no one else enjoyed them. The feedback I received on the early stories kept me going and now there's nothing else I'd rather be doing since I'm sidelined for dancing.
5. Any guilty pleasures?
I think I'm getting too old to feel guilty very often but I guess spending time reading and commenting on my flist while I'm supposed to be working would be one. :-D
From
cinderella81:
1. What is one place you want to visit before you die?
Japan
2. Is there a pairing in either the SV fandom or another fandom that you love but haven't written?
I'm nothing if not completely loyal to my OTP. The most I could do would be to add a third to Clark and Lex. Bruce, most likely.
3. What would you do if you won the Lottery?
Quit my job and do volunteer work for the nearest zoo to where we would move to that would be better for my arthritis. Donate money to zoos and aquariums. Travel around the world.
4. What talent do you wish you had?
If my health were better, I wouldn't wish for any new talent, I'd simply acquire it. I've pretty much been able to pick up and learn anything I want to and 'talent' is in the eye and mind of the beholder. And that applies to my whiny posts where I bemoan a lack of talent - I tend to get OTT on occasion. :-D
5. What's your favorite way to travel?
Teleportation. I am not one of the people who enjoys the journey, I want to *be* there immediately.
From
ilovedoyle:
1) What is your longest clexfic?
To date, 'Line of Engagement' which is standing at about 48,000 words and is my epic. :-D
2) What other programmes do you like (apart from SV)?
The only television show I've watched for the last 4 years is 'The Amazing Race'. I never watched SV until I bought S1-4 on DVD.
3) What is your favourite song atm?
Since I had to give up dancing, I've listened to very little music, hurts to know I can't dance right now. If I was going to listen, anything by Jesse Cook.
4) If you could see anyone live in concert, who would it be?
Not a big concert fan, but I guess Harry Connick Jr.
5) Non fandom fun (besides your dancing!)?
Traveling, especially where there's a zoo or aquarium.
From
bittermint:
1. How many WIP's do you have going right now?
Eight that I'll own up to *blushes*:
Started 01/14/07 Line of Engagement Words to date; ~47,000
Started 03/26/07 Another Time and Another Place Words to Date ~15,500
Started 04/20/07 In His Image Words to Date ~19,000
Started 05/09/07 Not Of This Earth Words to Date ~300
Started 05/13/07 The Rarer Action Words to Date ~1500
Started 05/15/07 Just A Matter of Time CLFF21 Challenge Words to Date ~500
Started 05/18/07 Speak Not In Whispers Words to Date ~ 9000
Started 05/20/07 Alimentary, My Dear Kent CLFF21 Challenge Words to Date ~500
2. Of your finished fics, do you have a favorite?
That one is always a tough one for me, I truly do love all my stories for different reasons. I'll say the
harlequin_sv stories 'Destiny Wears A Disguise' and 'Destiny's Savage Heart' because I was able to create some fairly complete AU's. I'd love to write sequels to both some day.
3. Who would you choose to be stranded on a tropical island with -- Clark or Lex?
Is it possible to be stranded anywhere with Clark? Either way, Lex because I think I'd enjoy talking with him about myriad subjects in-between honing our survival skills.
4. What's your favorite music?
Latin rhythm instrumentals (Jesse Cook and Santana)
5. Favorite dessert?
Cherry pie, which I don't indulge in nearly enough, closely followed by cherry-topped New York style cheesecake.
From
epeters:
1. Do you have any regrets about your life?
You might think not taking dance lessons sooner, but it was the right time to start for us - my daughter had just become old enough to stay home alone for an hour or two. Sooner would have taken time away from her. Perhaps not traveling more? It's hard to say, because I've had a good life and I know it. Decisions I once thought were iffy, have turned out OK most of the time.
2. If I gave you unlimited resources and you had to spend a week alone. Where would you go and what would you do?
I'd take a top-of-the-line digital camera and laptop to Japan and tour gardens and temples. Each night I'd download my pictures and write up my visit. The last two days, I'd visit Myanmar and do the same. My daughter brought back stunning pictures and stories from her SAS tour.
3. Do you take more pleasure in reading fic or writing it?
Depends on my mood, but probably reading.
4. When flipping channels what 3 movies can you absolutely NOT pass by?
Tough question! 'Harvey', 'Mr. Blandings Builds A Dream House' and 'Charade'. And I own all three.
5. If you hadn't met Gary when you were so young...where do you think you would be right now?
Medical research or teaching hospital. I was pre-med and quit school before the end of my second semester. Full ride, no less. *rolls eyes* The thing is, I'll never regret that because I found out I was too empathetic to practice medicine, although research or teaching would probably have worked. I really don't regret the years I spent with Gary instead of in school and I did go back at age thirty to get my degree in Computer Science - an excellent fit for me.
From
zhylosa:
1. If your house was on fire and you would only grab three things what would the be (assume size and movability is not an issue)?
I'm assuming all people would make it out. My jewelry box, my work laptop, my purse where I keep my PDA.
2. Describe yourself in one word for each of the following categorize? color, flower, season, animal, fruit/vegetable, and flavor?
green, daffodil, summer, tomato, vanilla
3. If you wanted to get a new person hooked what story would you have them read (for as many fandoms as you want to provide)?
This one is interesting because I am reading aloud my favorite CLex fics to my husband and that entails selecting not necessarily the 'hot' fics, but the fics that draw you in and make you think about their relationship. So far, the best has been 'Sleep While I Drive'.
4. Name which pairing is: favorite, least favorite, was surprised you liking, and just wrong. Clark/Lex, Clark/Lana, Whitney/Clark, Lionel/anyone
5. Are you part of any other fandoms? if yes which ones?
Nope.

5. Favorite season of the year and why?
no subject
Date: 2007-06-14 02:12 am (UTC)I think it was Yu Yu Hakusho, back in high school when we sent off for fansubbed tapes via snailmail.
2. First OTP and current OTP?
Hiei/Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm not sure I have an OTP now. SV is my primary fandom, and I write a lot of Clex, but I like to slash Lex with a lot of people.
3. Margueritas or Cosmopolitans?
Cosmos. Cheap $2 margueritas have brought me down in the past.
4. The first story you wrote that left you saying, "Yes!" was?
I'm... not sure what that means. After The Prince and the Crossdress, I was all "YES I FINISHED!" And I was proud. Because that was a difficult fic for me. I'll probably be saying the same after I finish You Make Me Sick.
5. Favorite season of the year and why?
Fall, because it's cool and warm at the same time, everything is beautiful as it dies, and Halloween is the best holiday evar.
